Artist Statement

My work is deeply influenced by the natural world and its relationship with social and cultural heritage. I approach my creative process through attentive observation of nature’s rhythms—witnessing the journey from seed to bloom. This reflects a fascination with the resilience of natural systems, as they persist and thrive despite obstacles. In recent times, my artistic focus has shifted towards examining the human impact on the environment, addressing pressing issues such as pollution and the overuse of plastics

Clay is my principal medium, and I take pleasure in experimenting with a range of ceramic methods. Throwing pieces on the wheel allows me to achieve symmetry and create elegant, flowing forms. I also utilise slip casting to produce consistent shapes and to experiment with various moulds, expanding the possibilities of my practice. Hand building forms an essential part of my work as well, offering flexibility and a hands-on approach that imparts distinctive character to each piece.  Bold and vibrant colours are central to my designs. They not only communicate my artistic vision but also lend visual energy and interest to the finished works

Active participation within my local community is a cornerstone of my practice. I am committed to fostering creativity and sharing my passion for ceramics by running creative workshops. These sessions provide an opportunity for individuals of all backgrounds to explore their own artistic potential, engage with clay as a medium, and learn various ceramic techniques in a supportive environment. Through these workshops, I seek to encourage collective creativity, nurture a sense of community, and help others discover the joy and fulfilment that comes from working with their hands.
